EA, Origin, Windows updates and DRM

Fifa17 not starting: "Invalid license. Reason code = missing dll: (mfplat.dll), error = 0x7E"
This message appeared recently on one of my PCs. The one my son is playing on. While he was trying to run FIFA17 game.
Read more for solution...

Introduction

My PC is using Windows 10 - which is still required by many games. This is a clear system used only for gaming. What is important: this is a N/KN version of windows 10 pro. And it auto-updated recently. And I am using early releases of Windows.

Problem

EA is developing in US and for american users. They have not taken into acount the fact that user might be missing mfplat.dll file on a healthy system.
Recent update of Windows changed a lot and this includes the mfplat.dll file removal.
People had this problem in the past and solution was to install media feature pack for windows 10. Now there is another level of this issue.

Solution

Install "media feature pack" [MFP] for your windows version. In my case [windows 10 x64 pro N] I had to install BOTH MFP 32-bit AND MFP 64-bit. But that is not all.
I had to fetch mfplat.dll file and copy it to c:/windows/system32 - I copied it from c:/windows.old/system32

If I helped - please, let me know and write a commend bellow.
And if you like, you can donate me to have more posts like this: paypal.me/adderek

Explanation

Windows updated itself keeping a copy of "old system" in c:/windows.old. But mfplat.dll was not copied to the new system [was it removed maybe by Microsoft?].
EA never assumed that the file is always there and it gave a misleading information coming from its spyware also known as DRM and message is thrown out by activationUI.

Comment about EA's support

I tried contacting with EA support. And I love it. A HUGE thing.
Once support is requested, they contact with you almost immediately.
Afterwards 1st line of support will try to help you. They really want to help and have high chane they would.
Unfortunately more complex cases require 2nd line support assistance. And this is a nightmare to get there. First the 1st line will request that you send them diagnostic data, reinstall everything, clear everything, send the diag data again, update drivers and apps, send diag data again. Prepare for several hours of your life being wasted. List of the steps [there are several lists] is almost 20 steps long. This is to ensure that 2nd line of support is receiving only verified cases [and to lower costs]. I am just guessing that inner atmosphere within the company is bad.
Their DRMs are a mess and you do not own the games.... but you probably don't even read the license... Anyway it is a mess and I prefer GOG way more. Or steam.
